The Field Guide
How to Read Your Creature Card
Every Creature Card is built on real science — designed to be easy and fun for kids to understand. Here's exactly what every stat on your card means.
Height, Length & Weight
We use the average adult size for each species. Animals can vary a lot, but one clear number helps kids get a mental picture without confusion.
Lifespan
We list the typical range in the wild. Wild conditions are tough — lifespans there are more realistic than those seen in zoos or captivity.
Habitat
Short and simple — usually a few words describing where the animal naturally lives. Rainforest, deep ocean, arctic tundra and beyond.
Diet
Icons that represent a single word — meat, plants, insects, etc. — so it's consistent and easy to compare across the whole collection.
XP Score (out of 1000)
Our way of gamifying the collection. It's not scientific — it's a mix of rarity, danger, and overall wow-factor.
Rarity
Each animal is ranked on our custom scale — from Pest to Mythical. This makes the cards collectible while teaching real conservation status.
The Danger Meter (1–6)
A fun way to show how dangerous an animal could be if you met it up close. A 1 means "basically harmless" and a 6 is reserved for mythical or truly legendary creatures.
Rarity Tiers
Based on the animal's real IUCN status
Safety Note
Creature Cards include a "Danger Meter" to make learning about animals more fun. This scale is for entertainment and education only. It should never be used as guidance for approaching, touching, or interacting with wild animals. Many creatures, even those ranked with low danger levels, can still be harmful or carry diseases. Always admire wildlife from a safe distance and never attempt to handle wild animals.
